Paris D-1: Travel light & ride far

Dear Friends,

This years Nicola Werner Challenge is at least in Paris a real challenge: Gillet Jaunes are in town and Corona doesn't help either.

You could help us on Saturday quite bit, if you

  • are prepared to drop no bag at KM0

  • keep a small Musette in your back pocket for the finishers gift

  • accept a few changes to the Parcours upon departure & arrival

  • make sure to arrive on time at KM0 for check in and adhere to the Corona distancing & mask rules

  • have a few energy bars with you, first footstep at 70km!

  • check one more time your SAS assignment (still last minute changes to the "seating order")

The new finish line will be at the Lanterne du Parc du Saint Cloud with a predicted arrival time for all cyclists around 17:00.

Just as reminder:

1. Kit: It's going to be a bit fresh in the morning - and nice and warm during the day:

  • of course the NWC Jersey with the base layer

  • arm warmers

  • a vest against the wind

  • short cuissardes

  • helmet & sunglasses

  • spare tube & pompe —> no need to leave an extra bag with clothes at the start

2. Rules: This is not a race!

  • Follow the ride leaders guidance

  • Helmet is mandatory

  • Don’t overtake the ride leader

  • On top of the “climbs” stop and wait for the others to regroup

  • Find a riding mood that allows to cruise along as peloton

  • In case of a panne, the group continues, you repair your bike and you’ll join the next group

  • its an unsupported event

3. Check your bike & make sure it is ready to go!

  • Chain greased

  • Tires fairly new and inflated properly

  • No unidentified noise

4. Corona

  • keep the distance

  • use your mask

  • use the hydroalcoholic gel

  • avoid to be together in bigger groups than 10

  • Stay with your group!

  • Groups are not permitted to join on the ride to build a larger group!

  • Either pass or let groups pass

  • At the Ravitos allow time and distancing! The volunteers will take care of the service!

  • Respect that some participants will be more concerned with Corona than you

Take a moment to get a short briefing on the Nicola Werner Challenge via

This years Nicola Werner Challenge is more than ever a joint effort of the cyclists on the road, the team preparing the event in the background, the partners supporting us as good as they can, the friends creating satellite rides in other cities and those who ride on their own.

We are so thankful for you taking the journey to the next level! Lets enjoy the rides on Saturday:

"Live the Music that plays within you!"

See you on the road!
