HOW MUCH SHOULD I DONATE?


THE NWC appreciates if donations are made within the capacity of the donor:


Compare The NWC with other events such as a Marathon, Etape du Tour, Marmotte ... consider tax deductibility in France


What is the cause worth to you?


As guideline for Paris a minimum of €125 and for all other locations at least €75 per participant are appreciated.


It is at the citiy organizers discretion to remind those who donated less than the suggested minimums to increase their contribution to the cause.



WHY SHOULD I BE A FUNDRAISER?


  • You spread the word for (HPV) cancer prevention in your community

  • You will receive holiday cards to send to your donors which is great networking

  • A special recognition will be awarded to fundraisers

  • Optionally you will be recognized on the NWC Family page as fundraiser



WHAT IS THE SPECIAL RECOGNITION?


Fundraisers and donors who raised or gave ≥€500 will receive


  • Invitation to one of the selected events: behind the scene visits DKFZ and IGR; Scientific Dinner, Tour de France reception

  • A limited donor & fundraisers collection item

  • Visibility on the Fundraisers wall

Donations from NWC participants to a Fundraiser are excluded in calculatiing the threshold; the fundraiser is obviously included.



WILL THERE BE A DRAW FOR "GOODIES"?


As in previous years a draw for "goodies" will take place in early October 2024:

  • The goodies will be annonced in the lead up to NWC 9

  • Every donor who gave ≥€100 is eligible to participate

  • Donations ≥€500 receive 5 tickets for the draw; the €500 can be established by a donation or the sum of non participants donations



WHY IS THERE NO ENTRY FEE TO THE NWC?


The NWC changed in 2020 with Covid the business model:


  • The volunteers of The NWC gave the event at no entrance fee to its participants.

  • The participants were asked to give within their capabilities to cancer research.


The model has proven to be very supportive of the spirit of The NWC and  it is more in line with The NWCs core values.  


Contributions from companies are used to finance the operations, the events and the growth of The NWC to allow NWC events to be "free" and donations only!



WHAT HAPPENS WITH MY DONATION?


The NWC is committed to donate a minimum of 80% of funds received from individuals to research projects.


The NWC has donated every year to cancer research in support of young researchers, special projects such as Prevention movies or a multiyear research project for "immunotherapy for cervical cancer"


Over the past 8 editions The NWC donated over €290.000 to fund 16 projects & awards in the area of virus and infection caused cancers with a strong focus on cervical cancer caused by HPV.


The NWC continues in 2024 the support of the projects “immunology for cervical cancer” at the Institut Gustave Roussy and “T-cell responses for head and neck tumours” at the German Cancer Research Center.




IS MY DONATION TAX DEDUCTIBLE?


French Tax residents are eligible for a Tax deduction of 66% of their donation in accordance with French Tax law. 


For the amount donated a "recu fiscal" in accordance with French Tax law will be issued, which reduces the 




WHEN SHOULD I DONATE?


Ideally at the time of registration to THE NWC or prior to the event.


THE NWC 9 campaign ends on September 30, 2024



COULD I USE BANK TRANSFER?


Bank transfer is possible, please send an e-mail to get the RIB / IBAN of THE NWC.


Bank transfers are an exception for donation <€1,000


For donations >€1,000 please contact The NWC


Cheques are not accepted.




IS THE DONATION MANDATORY?


The NWC expects that every participant adheres to the values and gives within its capacity, such that The NWC can have an impact on "no more HPV caused cancer!"


No donation by September 04, 2024 = 

  • no bike plate, no starter & no finishers pack, no holiday card

  • no participation to the draw

  • no group re-assignment option for Paris participants

  • It's at the city organizers discretion to exclude non donors from the ride
